Autosport

While new to the Autosport app, so I have nothing to compare it to, I find the app easy enough to navigate around. The breakdown by type of racing on the top is very useful. Great content too, so the subscription is worth the cash outlay.

I’ve been reading Autosport in one form or another since the early 80’s. I’ve persevered with the app for the few years, but I’ve had enough. How hard is it to write an app (or a mobile website for that matter) that can keep your paying customers actually logged in so they can view the content they have paid for. Apparently too difficult for these developers. There are a plethora of other outlets, many of which are free, that provide far better service.

The app itself is pretty good. Navigation took a little bit to get used to as an avid reader of the website but eventually figured it out. It’s still not the best but you can adapt to it. Needs the ability to change font size or viewing size as the default text size is quite small and/or not the easiest to read. Only giving it two stars though because something is truly broken underneath the hood as whenever I run the app my battery usage skyrockets to the point where my phone will get noticeably warm and the app will register in the phone’s settings as the biggest battery user. Before I realized this I would leave the app running in the background and noticed my phone batter would be below 50% within four hours of coming off the charger, that’s just from it being left in the background. I have to remember to force close the app as soon as I’m done reading the article or switch back to using the website. (I’m mainly sending this review to being this issue to the attention of the developer, I’m on an iPhone 12 Pro Max and I am an Autosport+ subscriber. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s seen this issue)
