Really surprised by this game but once you give it a chance it is truly very solid. The art, story, design, and fully voice acted lines(despite being silly sometimes) help the world and characters really come to life. The gameplay is quite fun and for a f2p game with no ads there really isn’t a thing I have to complain about. The devs are very generous in offering resources and there is always something to do. The UI and systems throughout the game are incredibly well thought out and I’m just super impressed at the quality and respect the devs show the players through this game. One minor critique I have though is that it is a little too easy to out level the story level enemies making most fights essentially stakeless since you know you will wipe the floor with them. A simple enemy tuning could adjust this and make some of those battles feel more enjoyable. The guild system is quite solid and I’d like to see it more fleshed out in the future with easier access to true multiplayer activities. As a whole I really believe this game is worth your time and I’d gladly recommend it to anyone. I look forward to seeing how the game progresses!
I play this every day. I wait all day until 8 pm for the day to reset, and instead of immediately jumping to social media, this is what i go to! I love the art style of the game, and being a learning character designer and writer, I adore the designs. They’re so inspiring and makes me even consider one day applying for Lilith or Farlight! Despite how much I love the game, there are a few things that are a bit unfortunate. I’m in Act 3 of the story at the moment, back in Holistone, and the only section of the story that I found truly had depth was Act 2. Watching the character development was very nice, and I loved a lot of the cutscenes. I only wish the same depth was applied to other parts of the story, and I wish there was more “show not tell” as the characters have a tendency to say exactly what is happening instead of letting the player analyze. In the realm of the money-involved aspects, I think that everything is WAY too expensive. While the game is very rewarding, some people enjoy spending money. However, the money spent on this game is arguably extremely expensive. One ten-pull is $50, which is absolutely outrageous. Not only that, but some of the bundles can get up to $100. Other gacha games like Cookie Run Kingdom offer much more inexpensive options, and given that, it makes me not want to spend anything on AFKJ. The only thing worth it to me is the Classic Gazette (300 gems a day). While I love this game, there are a lot of things that can be improved. I hope that ask the game ages, it changes for the better. :)
I’d like to point out that at some parts of the story (the characters dialogue & dialogue choices for Merlin) are not translated into English. While the untranslated bits are few and far between, & may not have had any particular significance to the story, it had occurred enough for me to be bothered by it. I hope untranslated parts could be fixed (or just not happen at all) for both the sake of future chapters & new players. On the other hand, there were times where a character that was initially referred to as “he” would later be referred to “she” & vice versa. For example, when talking to a NPC about a goddess, they had originally said “she” but then switched to “he” before switching back again. The lack of consistency in either of the things I’ve mentioned above is what bothers me the most. Putting aside these issues, the game has surprisingly been a lot more enjoyable and interesting than I had expected. The story & the voice acting are both quite solid. The design of both characters & the world are both interesting & great to look at. I also like how the environment changes depending on what part of the story you’re at, as well as what the NPCs say before & after said changes occur, making exploring & then re-exploring fun. (Not to mention being able to pet some animals here and there). I also appreciate the general generosity of the game when it comes to resources, whether it be in-game currency or things to improve the strength of our heroes. Hope the game continues to be enjoyable as it is now, if not better, in the future!
