Reviews: What People Think About EWG's Food Scores

I came to depend on this organization and this app to help me make very important food choices. Now, it hardly works at all, and, what’s worse, all my numerous emails to EWG have been ignored.
I used to link this organization to my Facebook page 4 times a year – that will NOT happen anymore until they fix this.
Listen up EWG, you’re the only organization doing this kind of work, and if you can’t support your own application, what is the point? Don’t get trumped!!! And, you ignore your supporters at your own peril.

I buy mostly organic, so my items do mostly show ratings numbers, however, the comparisons feature is useless. Won’t download, can’t designate as a favorite because it never goes beyond the "download" screen.

Really wanted this to work, but I’ve scanned everything in my pantry and nothing comes up. Then I browse for items and click on any I find (even though I don’t have those items) just to see how it’s scored and it never loads to show that. Great concept, poorly executed. Hopeful updates will fix it.
About EWG's Food Scores
How does your food score? How do we know what we’re eating, really? Food processors make so many claims these days. Supermarkets are loaded with foods that contain chemicals no one can pronounce.
EWG’s Food Scores houses information on tens of thousands of foods in a simple, searchable online format designed to guide consumers to healthy, affordable food that’s good for people and the planet.
The database includes more than:
• 80,000 products
• 5,000 ingredients
• 1,500 brands
How did we come up with our scores? We combine these ratings into a single overall product score.
-- Nutrition. The nutrition scoring algorithm considers multiple factors, including calories, saturated fat, trans fat, sugar, sodium, protein, fiber and fruit, vegetable and nut content.
-- Ingredient concerns. The ingredient concerns algorithm focuses on factors such as the likely presence of key contaminants, pesticides, hormones and antibiotics and the health implications of certain food additives.
-- Processing. The processing score reflects EWG's best estimate of the extent to which a particular food has been processed. Scoring factors include modification of individual ingredients from whole foods and the number of artificial ingredients.
