I paid for a year of Sinemia. Because the deal seemed great, and I love going to the movies. I left moviepass because I couldn’t rely on it anymore. For the first few months of Sinemia, I loved it. It was great. But for the last 6 months or so, it has been utterly horrible. Customer service is quite literally non existent. The app is constantly having issues and crashing. Not to mention that any money you think you might save through the subscription, you end up paying in fees that they don’t tell you about. So. I’m stuck with it for now. But once the year is up, that’s it for me unless Sinemia really turns things around. Semi- decent customer service would make Sinemia more desirable. EDIT They went out of business without even letting its customers know. Not an email, a notification on the app, NOTHING. No refunds. No replies to emails. How lovely.

I paid my sub upfront. Got to use it only three times and one of those times because I forgot to check in I paid full price for the ticket. Ok, fair enough, but for the last two months I keep getting an error message when trying to reserve a ticket and no help. No replies. No bug fixes. So in essence I paid $50 for each movie. I also keep getting multiple emails (5) that I will be charged for not checking in...? How is that possible when I can’t even reserve a ticket to go purchase? It’s sad but true to say this company is running a scam. People say that they are suing them...really? Who has money or time to do that BS. Just spread the word, cancel your subs and drive the company into the ground. They’ve already been successful with their scam and got us so I just hope this review protects the next person.

Sinemia, a rival to MoviePass in the percolating movie ticketing space, said it is ending its operations in the U.S. effective immediately. The company let users know on their website this week, just ahead of the opening of Disney/Marvel’s now record-breaking juggernaut Avengers: Endgame. “While we are proud to have created a best in market service, our efforts to cover the cost of unexpected legal proceedings and raise the funds required to continue operations have not been sufficient,” the notice posted Thursday reads. “The competition in the US market and the core economics of what it costs to deliver Sinemia’s end-to-end experience ultimately lead us to the decision of discontinuing our US operations. “Despite the best efforts of our team, it has been difficult for us as a start-up to continue providing our services to the moviegoers in the US without resources and enough capital to meet increased operations and legal costs.” MoviePass sued Sinemia in February for patent infringement, saying that the rival “offers a movie theater subscription service that is remarkably similar” to its own. It was also the subject of a class-action lawsuit over some of its fees.
