Reviews: What People Think About Dancing Mudras

Rating: 5/5
In my opinion, the best of all Mudras apps. The photos are gorgeous, the audio is a great feature, and the descriptions in several languages make it accessible. Well designed, easy to use. I love it! Works well on both iPhone and iPad with great high res quality pics on the larger screen. The latest version is lightning fast.

Newer version 1.4 is better and faster! The Russian and Chinese translations are there as well. Among mudra apps, this one is quite unique. Not only does it have the audio Sanskrit pronunciation, but also the hand gesture meanings in 7 languages. A great little app.

About Dancing Mudras
Give ‘nimble fingers’ a new meaning as you easily master mudras (hand gestures) used in Indian classical and Bollywood dance! Set against the stunning backdrop of the spiritually potent Joshua Tree desert, the app includes Sanskrit audio and gesture meanings in 7 languages.. So, stretch your fingers and learn something new. Available in English, Czech, French, German, Spanish, Chinese, and Russian.

This is a collection of 28 asamyukta hasta mudras (single hand gestures) from the Indian classical dance of Bharatanatyam.

The use of fingers and hands to communicate meaning, tell stories, and create delicate shapes is crucial to Indian dance. It is what makes the poetry of Indian Dance so unique and exquisite.

Founded by Sangita Shresthova, Bollynatyam® takes a historically and culturally sensitive approach to contemporary Indian and South Asian dance. Our teaching and choreography draws on classical Indian dance (Bharatanatyam), martial arts, contemporary movement, and Bollywood dance.
