On other apps where your identity is anonymous, you tend to get a lot of trolls and low quality comments. Even on Facebook you can get any one (qualified or not) expressing any odd opinion about anything so it’s hard to gauge what’s right and wrong. In Forecast, your predictions and results are tied to your profile which is tied to your Facebook account, it brings a level of accountability for your bets and comments. People have an incentive to be right because it shows on their track record of how many times they were right or wrong. Overall I love the design of the app as well. Very intuitive and easy to use.

I love the concept, and I was going to build something similar myself until I saw Forecast. It looks and works great, except that some things just take forever to load, particularly following/followers which times out after like 10 seconds. Otherwise I really am really enjoying it.

I had read their settlement requirements and decided to invest based on that (that 100m first shots of vaccine would be GIVEN before March 31st). CDC data has a lag of a few days, so ON THE DAY that nullifies my vote, the Forecast team goes in and changes the settlement requirements: that 100m shots would be REPORTED before March 31st. You notice the subtle difference? So all this time using the app and betting based on their chosen language, and they change it without giving me a chance to recoup or undo my forecast and losing on my in depth research which would have been correct if the original criteria would have been maintained. This app is a huge disappointment. Don’t download unless you’re ok getting suckered into betting all your money on a prediction for which they can and do change the settlement criteria for. And there’s nothing you could do or anyone you can appeal to.
