This game is along the lines of Hearthstone Battlegrounds. It feels way more streamlined than Hearthstone Battlegrounds and feels like its own distinct game and not just one of those knockoff ad games. You can also play at your own pace, no timer, which makes it perfect to play a little bit between tasks.
Even my brother who doesn’t like playing phone games really enjoys this one! My only critiques to say are that they need a better UI to learn keywords, and more strategies. The base strategy’s are great, Although after 20-30 games you see some similarities.
Also, IF A DEVELOPER IS SEEING THIS! The newest update, the 1.1.4? I believe, The one that had you download high resolution art. I can’t launch the game, it just goes to a black screen then kicks me out!
EDIT: I found a temporary fix by deleting and reinstalling the game. Thankfully it keeps my save data.
Aside from those things, It’s an amazing game and I 10/10 recommend for you to get it!

I got to play the game when they launched at GenCon and have been playing since. I have enjoyed it a lot, and loved to watch it as it developed, however I’m incredibly disappointed at the cash grab turn it took once they launched officially. Giving those of us who had been around since the beginning gems was nice, but locking one of the most popular Captains under a paywall feels greedy. “Thanks for the data, here’s how we’re going to take advantage of people with it.”
Everything else checks out as a free to play, with option to spend money to progress faster game. It’s fun, though with the amount of time it takes to unlock new cards and no ability to earn gems, only buy them, it gets repetitive.

Biggest issues is that it’s not actually multiplayer. You’re just playing against “ghosts” of other players’ previous runs. So the game excitement of playing against a human isn’t there. It’s basically 100% solo against bots. Other issues: Tutorial needs a lot of work. I had to google the keywords - like what the “hunt” mechanic does. The metagame also needs much better explanation. There’s also zero explanation of spells. Kinda easy to figure out if you’ve played games like this. But I wonder how many people delete this game after realizing the tutorial is useless
Artwork and cards/characters are great. But tutorial and lack of human opponents make it meh.
If you have no autobattle experience, this game is not the place to start.
About Once Upon a Galaxy
Galaxy is FREE to play, has NO ADS, uses NO AI artwork. Will you choose Dorothy as your captain and help her and friends on their journey to complete their quests? Or Dragonmother and discover what will hatch from her dragon egg? Or maybe Indiana Clones, who will "clone" your best three treasures? It's all up to you!
