Reviews: What People Think About WoodworkerCalc

I love this app. Took me a minute to figure out some of the features, like the button to convert decimals to fractions and visa versa. But once I understood that, this became my every day app for the shop. I use it at the hardwood seller to calculate board feet too. The only function I never use is the Tape function, still haven’t figured that out even after reading the help. Would love to see a golden ratio calculator and/or a very simple notebook in its place. But even without the tape feature, I’ll give it 5 stars.

This app is very handy if you do a lot with fractions. I'm a cabinet builder and use fractions all day. This app is so useful I dedicated an iPad 2, app won't do landscape on iPad 1, to this app and mounted above my workbench. Very easy to use.

I collect fraction calculators because most of them are lacking the function I need or have silly interfaces. This one is great! I am old and have trouble with small fonts, so I wish they’d make the results show in a bigger font.
About WoodworkerCalc
WoodworkerCalc is a specialized calculator for fine woodworking and other crafts. It makes it very easy to enter and perform calculations on measurements and tracks errors that can accumulate during layout. When laying out repeating units, a small round off error in the fractions can result in large errors. WoodworkerCalc displays these errors so the layout accommodate them.

It is easy to go back and forth before decimal and fractional results. You can choose the precision of the fraction to reflect real-world working units. For example, 1/32 is the typical smallest unit used for woodworking layout.

Calculations are stored on “tapes” which can be saved and restored later. This allows sequences of calculations to be preserved for later use.

There is also a board foot calculator which is useful when purchasing material.

A triangle calculator avoids the need to remember high school trigonometry.
