Reviews: What People Think About Stage Traxx 3

I haven't used too too many of these apps, I know there are others, but ST3 is killer. does everything I need. I can integrate multiple audio tracks, clicks, it will scroll through my charts as I play so I can be totally hands free, it will trigger midi messages if you program it to do so. It's slick, it shows me all the info I want to see. It uses the iPads class-compliant USB interface, so it can send multiple channels of audio to a mixer or other audio interface rather than just a L/R headphone mix on which you can effectively only get a mono backing track, since you'd need the other side for a click. I use this to send a click, and a cue track, all separate from the backing tracks. Some singers (like mine), don't love the click too loud, so I can turn it down just for them, while still leaving the cues loud. Also, the multitracks are configurable, so if, for example, my keyboard player can't make a gig, I could choose to turn on the keys track just for that gig. I only have one suggestion to improve: it would be great if ST3 could play a midi file along with the audio. Currently we can use midi output to control lights, other equipment preset changes, etc. but this has to be programmed in manually. Would be awsome if we could just drop in a midi file with the appropriate CC/PC messages.

I'm not normally one to write reviews but I have spent so much time looking for the perfect solution to running tracks and lyrics at my show only to be constantly disappointed....well that disappointment ended at my gig last night. I discovered Stage Traxx last Sunday night and spent the next 2 days moving track files and lyrics into the software. I played my first gig with Stage Traxx on Thursday. I found the entire process to be very strait forward and simple (although time consuming for the amount of songs I needed to move). My journey to this point started with Setlist Maker then Bandhelper, Onsong, SongOne all running in conjunction with Ableton Live for the tracks. I have now completely eliminated the need for a MacBook with Ableton Live. Also, I'm not tap dancing on a foot pedal to scroll lyrics through songs. The flow of my show was so easy last night. I'd just like to say a very sincere "Thank You" to Peter for taking the time to write this software. Stage Traxx is exactly what I've been looking for and I didn't think it existed until I stumbled upon it in a musician's Facebook group. I left a review in the Solo Acoustic Musician's Facebook group as well.

Update: The newest version update is an extreme improvement! Now mono channel routing is possible and track count as been increased to 8tracks. Still not as many tracks as I’d like for a fully independent playback system (hence the 4 star update from the original 1 star I left) yet definitely more useable. Once it’s capable of 12-16 tracks per song I will definitely be updating to 5 stars. Original Review: At first I thought this would be everything I needed in order to reduce dependency on a laptop. However once upgrading to the full paid version I quickly realized it was a waste of money for true playback routing. Let me explain. By default the app allows 6 tracks. I had assumed more track options would open up with the paid version, I was wrong. Then came the biggest disappointment… when I finally finished creating dumbed down tracks to meet the 6 track limitation into playlists for nearly 80 songs and arriving to the rehearsal space to connect to the playback interface, I was extreme displeased to see only ST3 only having 3 pair of stereo sends and an additional stereo send out the headphone jack. Not even the ability to send a mono click, guide track, or timecode to a mono channel output. This is extremely limiting when using a redundant setup through a 10 to 24 channel playback system.
