This app is required to be able to play the game in second edition and it is riddled with bugs and design missteps. I have only successfully saved a squad once and every time I tried to open it back up the app would crash. The squad edit button is not very responsive, the formatting is incomplete with <italics> all over the place. No matter what “format” you select all of the ships are present, it just won’t let you choose certain ones so now you have to waste time clicking to see if a ship is even available. Why do you have every ship listed?! Filter them out so we can focus on only the ships we can choose. Your total squad points are not visible while adding ships so you have to remember how many points you have left, you can’t simple copy a ship to duplicate it when you want multiple ships of the same build, you can’t see a ships dials at any point. When you select upgrades that assign condition cards you can’t see the condition card so who knows what they do unless you have the cards in front of you. I mean seriously this app is NOT ready. FFG you made this a requirement for the game, and you made a total critical point of failure. This needs to be fixed or this game is DOA.

Looks like all the effort was spent trying to make it look pretty. But it is not at all functional - freezes up constantly and has to be killed and restarted. Layout and flow is confusing. Clickable items are too small it often thinks you clicked something different than you intended. Collection doesn’t let you select ships from you old collection yet - just get the entire blob from a whole conversion kit (what’s the point?). This is NOT a finished product and should not have been released for the sake of meeting a magic deadline. Smells like the kind of sloppy, half baked garbage software you get when your company tries to reduce software development costs by outsourcing to India. I’m shocked that FFG allowed this most critical piece of their new release fail so spectacularly and potentially derail their brave and necessary revamp to try to save this originally brilliant, but now currently fatally broken game. They need to bring in a competent, qualified IT consulting by firm to fix this fast before it kills their new edition. I’m not opening my 2 new edition boxes or buying anything more until this is app is fixed - I expect new edition lives or dies on this app.

Needless to say, this app is very rough around the edges. Font issues and centering issues are what stand out the most to me. Going back does not take you to the previous page, but to the home screen. It’s also missing features that are standard on third-party squad builders. We need the option to be able to keep track of our collection in the app. This includes everything from the first edition of X-Wing. It will be very frustrating when I build a list and realize I don’t actually have certain items. We also need to see the dials for each ship. Quick build options should be added since they seem to be a big part of 2.0 and most people won’t want to carry the threat cards around. Also, why does the app need to be connected to the internet to function? Very poor display from FFG considering this was touted as a huge step forward for X-Wing.
