Reviews: What People Think About Chinese Checkers.
LA Confidential 54
Rating: 4/5
This is one of the better Chinese-Checkers games I've found, however, the robots do break one of the rules as I know them. The way I've always played is that you can jump into any of the destination areas as long as you jump out before the turn ends. In this version, you are allowed to remain in those areas at the end of your turn; however, when playing with other humans, the ability to remain in a destination area may be disregarded if that is the preference. Also, playing others online is not an option, but I still believe it is a good game & even though some reviews indicate that the computer cheats & always wins, I have won several times but it is certainly challenging.

Game play is nice, and challenging. But the NPC players can skip a turn if they are blocked, but I am not able to skip a turn if I’m blocked. After who knows how many games of being 4th, I was finally able to get all but one of my pieces home first. I then kept having to move a piece back and forth until the robot next to me forced me to make a move that would put my piece two spots away, and made me 4th again. That is how the game is played, except the NPC doesn’t have to do that when the roles are reversed. Very frustrating that the same rules don’t apply to NPC. Also, the way the NPC pieces are moved, it’s as if they’re helping each other. They rarely block each other’s pieces, and all seem to gang up to block only mine.

I love playing Chinese checker. I’ve been playing since I was a kid. I like this app when I have a competitive pal to play with. However, when I have to play with the robot in the app, it’s boring. Because I won the robot every round easily. I hope they can provide more options for more advanced robots.
About Chinese Checkers.
Chinese checkers is a board game that can be played by two, three, four, or six people, playing individually or with partners. The game is a modern and simplified variation of Halma. The objective is to be first to race one's pieces across the hexagram-shaped game board into "home" – the corner of the star opposite one's starting corner – using single-step moves or moves which jump over other pieces. Others keep playing to establish 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and last place finishers.
A basic strategy is to find the longest hopping path that leads closest to, or immediately into, "home" – the destination star point at the opposite side of the board. (Multiple-jump moves are obviously faster to relocate pieces than step-by-step moves.) Since either player can make use of any hopping 'ladder' or 'chain' created, more advanced strategy involves hindering an opposing player, in addition to helping oneself find jumps across the board. Of equal importance are the players' strategies for emptying and filling their starting and home corners. Games between experts are rarely decided by more than a couple of moves.
The player must throw the exact number to advance to the home square. If more than that number is thrown, the plane moves back the overflown steps. Differing numbers of players result in different game layouts. Each layout imposes a different best-game strategy. For example, if a player's "home" or destination corner is empty (not an opponent's starting corner), the player can freely arrange his/her pieces to serve as a 'ladder' or 'bridge' between the two opposite ends. But if a player's opponent occupies the home destination corner, the player might be better advised to play a "waiting game" until all pieces have moved out.
