Reviews: What People Think About Ballyland Sound Memory

Rating: 3/5
My son has CVI, educationally legally deafblind, age 11 with multiple physical handicaps. I was hoping the app would be slightly more inclusive. He generally uses apps geared toward ages 2-5 with specific traits. I’m looking for inclusive apps that are self-correcting with no negative reinforcements (error sounds) because my son tends to self-stimulate and has difficulty with compulsive light gazing (CVI) and auditory processing deficit as result of early hearing loss & seizures. Also no background music 🎶 is better than background music that can’t be shut off or volume adjusted... just some ideas for developers out there. I would love to beta test new apps so please reply here if you’re interested for future updates!
About Ballyland Sound Memory
A fun and challenging sound-matching game for all, fully accessible for students with blindness and visual impairment. Challenge your listening and memory skills and try to beat your hi-score. As you navigate the digital game grid to locate, memorize and pair the matching sounds you will develop conceptual understanding of rows and columns – an essential skill for mathematics and other STEM subjects. Re-engineered for improved interaction.
Tips and full instructions for this app from the award winning ‘Ballyland’ suite of accessible educational game apps can be found on the Sonokids website.

"As a teacher, working with children around the world, I have witnessed how Ballyland apps allow children with and without a visual impairment to play and learn together. Ballyland Sound Memory is not only a fun game, but it also helps children to acquire important skills preparing them for use of technology and mathematics. I have combined the use of this app with tactile diagrams of grids, rows, and columns to create blended teaching, producing accessible multi-sensory learning that highly benefits children with blindness and vision impairment."
