Reviews: What People Think About Quine

Hi quine is just what I need for putting notes between my iPad and desktop tw5. Would be a five star, but it failed to autosave, even though there is a setting for it. In desktop TW if the browser closes or crashes, the open notes (I.e. in edit mode) come back on reload of the wiki as "draft of" the tiddler title. I sorely miss this as I constantly forget to close the edit window of the last note and lose it when iOS renews and quine goes back to the default wiki-open page.

I'm a heavy TiddlyWiki user and I've been struggling with this application for months. It works fine as a portable way to pop up my wiki, but edits are a struggle. Text selection is a nightmare. You can select a word, or the entire edit box content, but any attempts to resize a selection result in completely bizarre. Sending images to the wiki is spotty at best. You have to send each over and over until they, seemingly, randomly appear in the Inbox. From there, moving them to where you want is so clunk that it often makes me decide to not bother and instead do it later on my laptop and a better TW5 interface. On the upside, it's been solid in that I haven't lost an edit. While the documentation mentions a couple of online sync options, there's also the, I think, undocumented mechanism of syncing via iTunes. This is great for me since I use the my wiki while sailing where internet isn't a thing. I know some people use this all the time, but I don't get it. Version 1.3 Update: You can sort of cut and paste now if you use the magnifier method. Expanding a selection with a drag is still horribly broken. Sending images to Quine is still broken making the app pretty useless for anything serious. It's hard for me to believe that this has a 4.3 rating.

This is a great way to have a TW on your phone, at the ready whenever you need it. The alternative, using TW from a browser thru Tiddlyspot, does work but has the following quirks: - safari: does not cache your (even if you have keychain enabled) so you have to reenter credentials after leaving Safari after a certain timeout. And obviously does not support offline operation - Firefox: does better with caching credentials but you are prompted twice - annoying SaveQuery error every time page is first loaded (known conflict with Firefox on iOS and TW5) The one request I could make to the dev of Quine is: -Please provide a fullscreen mode. The top "done" bar takes up valuable real-estate, and a left "back" edge swipe could easily replace it. Thanks!
