If you have a Phone app that tries to ID your plant you need to cross reference your results on Minnesota Wildfowers. There you will learn what you truly have or do not have. It is THE very best reference for plant ID. I work in habitat restoration and MWI is excellent at splitting look alike plants apart in the notes section, where a quick click will let you look at the alternative(s). I use it to train my seasonal technicians. It lessons their weed pulling toil misery. Thank you Katy!

This app is excellent for identifying midwestern plants (including trees!). It includes nearly all the information you might need: is it native? Invasive? Common names? And helpful hints for identification and comparison. My only complaint is the app doesn’t show national distribution maps, which are on the website. Those of us in Minnesota-adjacent states (I’m in northern Michigan) would truly appreciate seeing those.

I use it all the time. Well organized. Can use it in the garden as well as in the field -away from WiFi or cell data. ONLY complaint is that it must be updated to make use of Dark Mode. The text is too pale to see on the info pages when my phone switches to dark mode. Please Fix! UPDATE: quick response from developer! Well done. I will see how it looks tonight when dark mode kicks on.
